European Voluntary Service
The letters EVS stands for European Voluntary Service, a European initiary that probably has changed the life of many people around the world!

The main idea is that people until the age of 31 spend some time offering voluntary work in a project that takes place outside their country of residence. Other than an reach full experience the participants are provided with accommodation, language lessons, health insurance, cover of their travel expenses (up to a certain amount) and an amount of money for their personal needs and food.

Thankfully, at the moment there are many voluntary projects running on different countries, with a big variety of topics while many others are being prepared in order to accept volunteers in the next months!
If we try to put it in simple words, we can say that it works like this:
Step 1: You decide that you want to leave your country for a while
Step 2: You search for a project that fits your personal interests, needs and challenges
Step 3: You apply for the project and wish to get a positive answer

You can also search in relevant Facebook pages (e.g. EVS etc) and contact youth organizations in your country. And of course, you can always ask people who have already participated in an EVS or people who are currently participating in one, like us!
