Volunteering Experiences

Building a team together

Teamwork requires a team and to have a team you need to work for it. This is what we have been trying to do since our first day here. Problem-solving games, cleaning duties and group tasks are some of the activities which have helped us towards this direction!

Storing a mountain of corn

Corn is basically used to feed animals so it is important to store it carefully. We created a human chain to help a villager with his corn. That is how we know that corn leaves should be removed before storing because if not, mice will use it to build nests and that a mountain of corn needs always more time to be stored than what you think it will.

Making apple and grape juice from scratch

When nature around you gives you much more fruits than what you can eat, take the chance and make juice. That is what we did with grapes and apples. Also, the construction of the juice maker is interesting and simple, so you could try to make one as well .
Tip: Apple Juice tastes so much better when you have put effort to make it.

Making paper from paper

Iliyana â€‹shared with us her knowledge and now we are all able to create our own paper sheets from used ones, which in the best scenario would end up in the recycling bin. All you need is to follow the steps of the technique and let your creativity free!

Working with children at schools in a funny way to learn

One of our activities is to go to schools and prepare activities for children. In the form of workshops, we teach sometimes languages, sometimes human rights, sometimes we offer reflections on biology, evolution and physics of the world, sometimes we practice sports. But whatever happend, we always having fun and working together.

The garden project: offering help, receiving knowledge and inspiration

We went to Osijek with one mission: to help with the recreation of a property into an educative gardening space before the sun goes down. Between other things, we learned how to built raised garden beds and how to make rocky votanic gardens. Without doubt, it was another day rich in learning and doing together

Into the woods: Preparing for winter

Wood is essential for this village as fire is the main -and in some cases the only- way of heating. Assisting to the collection of wood means that you cut, curry and store the wood. It requires physical as well as mental skills. You need to balance the hammer and the wood in your hands and you need to balance  the idea of cutting a tree that was growing for several years in order to survive the winter.

Mushroom festival: Getting involved

Thanks to the mashroom festival, we got the chance to cook together, to enjoy an amazing mashroom shoup after a walk in the forest, to experience croatian dances and to receive many smiles from people who tried the sweets we have made.

The "Property 80":

Dreaming together

In a place where others could only see abandonment, Patrick dared to see creation. As soon as we started heping him with the procedures of rebirth, his dream became also our dream. Now, our mission is to convert "Property 80" to the paradise we have dreamed of.

Spending time together

Between working hours and days there are these small breaks that we get to know each other better and better and that is an amazing feeling.

Celebrating autumn and spreading happiness

Finding reasons to celebrate is a nice way to look life. People in Pozega use to celebrate Atumn and this year we celebrated with them! Our main contribution to the celebration was focused on children: we made handicrafts using natural material, we practiced languages, we painted masks and we tried to walk on slit lines together. Apart from these, we took the chance to join the dancing circle and try typical food and drinks!
